Early Spring Almond, Editorial

Andreas Messinis has been shooting the stars for many years as a renowned astrographer. However, this year he decided to shoot for the stars and get involved with wedding photography. No moment is better to try something new than Spring and this editorial shoot is an ode to dreaming and innocence!

With the first spring sun rays crippling through the long winter days, almost as of magic, nature awakes. Everything changes, little flowers grow everywhere, the days get longer, warmer. The prairies fill up with a million little pink and white almond blossoms. The air smells of almond flowers and bonheur falls everywhere like a million shooting stars.

The almond tree; so delicate yet so brave, it blooms in the middle of the winter. The little flowers are a reminder of change, they bring hope for something new that is coming, they bring Spring. Springtime is for the young girls, those who sparkle with the white of innocence, those who dream about life. Hidden in locked attics, laying in the grass, playing in the fields, they dream of him. With fire in their cheeks and hair braided with flowers, they hide their thoughts in love letters they’ll never send and wear white dresses, white like them. The young girls whisper to each other secrets about glances, forbidden touches, dreams and a hope that only youth can harness.

This lust for life and this innocence inspired us to create an editorial shoot with a romantic color palette; dusty pink, gold, and black. We wanted to modernize these shades and give them a contemporary twist. We loved the minimal and romantic stationery, the invitations, the menus, the name tags made by Andreas! We chose lacy dresses with tulle by Nella Ioannou, that gave us the ultimate touch of old fashioned romanticism. Our florals were spring tulips, magnolias, black berries, English roses and, of course, almond tree blossoms, while our bridal bouquets were made by wild pink peonies that filled the air with their sweet scent.

For our table setting, we chose crystal glasses, vintage shabby chic china plates and platters with golden details that matched our gold flatware perfectly. To bring back some edge we went for black glasses, black candles, and black damask silk linens! Because nothing is more appropriate in spring than pink French desserts, we chose delicious tartelettes with raspberries, a dreamy cake with strawberry buttercream and little teacakes with blueberries, all created by our favorite pâtissiere!
